What distinguishes zirconium from other materials?
Why is zirconium used so frequently in research, thin-film technology, and high-performance materials? The reason lies in the special combination of its material properties: zirconium combines high corrosion resistance with excellent temperature stability and versatile chemical application possibilities – properties that many other materials offer only to a limited extent.
Zirconium is particularly resistant to acids, aggressive chemicals, and corrosive environments. Therefore, the material is excellently suited for demanding laboratory applications, chemical processes, and use in analytics and specialized technology. At the same time, zirconium remains stable and reliable even at high temperatures, which makes it interesting for high-temperature applications, coating processes, and ceramic developments.
Zirconium oxide, in particular, impresses with its high mechanical strength, thermal resilience, and chemical stability. Therefore, it is frequently used in high-performance ceramics, sensor technology, thin-film technology, and materials science research. Zirconium carbide, on the other hand, is characterized by extreme hardness, high temperature resistance, and good electrical conductivity – ideal properties for modern material and nanotechnology applications.
Another advantage is the high versatility of the material. Zirconium can be processed in numerous forms and purities – for example, as foil, wire, granule, rod, nanopowder, oxide, or sputter target. This allows the material to be specifically adapted to different research and process requirements. For research institutions and development departments, this means: reliable material properties, reproducible results, and flexible application possibilities in a wide variety of applications – from basic research to industrial thin-film technology.
Is zirconium available as a nanopowder?
Yes, at ChemPUR you can also obtain zirconium as a nanopowder for demanding research and development applications. Our range includes, among others, zirconium(IV) carbide nanopowder and zirconium oxide nanopowder in different particle sizes and purities.
The available nanopowders are suitable, for example, for high-performance ceramics, thin-film technology, nanotechnology, sensor technology, and materials science applications. The zirconium carbide nanopowders are available with APS 40 nm or APS <60 nm, among others, and are characterized by spherical particles and high specific surface areas. ChemPUR offers metallic, oxidic, and nitridic nanoparticles in different forms, purities, and quantities – from small laboratory amounts to larger requirements. Furthermore, we support you in selecting suitable nanomaterials for your application.
Does ChemPUR offer zirconium sputter targets?
Yes, ChemPUR supplies high-purity zirconium sputter targets for research, thin-film technology, and industrial coating processes. The targets are available in different sizes and material thicknesses and are particularly suitable for PVD processes and modern sputtering applications.
The range includes, among others, zirconium sputter targets with 3 mm and 6 mm thickness in purities up to 99.95%. The products are used for high-precision thin-film and coating processes and can be individually adapted depending on the application. Likewise, at ChemPUR, we offer custom manufacturing of zirconium sputter targets for demanding thin-film and coating processes. Depending on your application, we supply targets in different sizes, purities, and designs – tailored to your technical requirements and process parameters.
Furthermore, we also handle metallic bonding and the production of matching backplates. This provides you with customized solutions for precise coating processes in research, development, and industrial thin-film technology. Especially in specialized applications, you benefit from our many years of experience, flexible manufacturing options, and personal expert advice – from material selection to the individual implementation of your project-specific requirements.
Is zirconium available in different sizes?
Yes, ChemPUR offers zirconium products in numerous sizes, dimensions, and delivery forms. Depending on the application, you can obtain different wire diameters, foil thicknesses, granule sizes, or target dimensions. Zirconium foils are available in thicknesses from 0.025 mm to 1.0 mm, for example. Zirconium granules are available in grain sizes of 1–3 mm or 3–6 mm. We also supply wires and rods in various diameters for laboratory, research, and high-temperature applications.
This size flexibility is particularly important because different research and production processes require precisely matched material properties. Even small differences in material thickness, grain size, or diameter can influence heat conduction, surface behavior, coating quality, or reaction processes. Especially in thin-film technology, material development, or powder metallurgy, exactly matching material dimensions are crucial for reproducible results and stable processes.
Size, shape, and specification also play a central role in process reliability and efficiency for sputter targets, evaporation materials, or nanopowders. Therefore, we support you not only with a broad standard range but also with individual advice on the optimal material selection for your application. If desired, we also realize customer-specific special dimensions and individual semi-finished products for research and industry. This ensures you receive zirconium solutions that are exactly matched to your technical requirements, system parameters, and project goals.
Is high-purity zirconium oxide available?
ChemPUR offers zirconium oxide in various purity levels up to high and ultra-high purity qualities. The range includes powders, pieces, and nanopowders for research, ceramic development, analytics, and thin-film technology. Available are, among others, zirconium(IV) oxide with purities of 99%, 99.9%, 99.95%, and up to 99.995%. Additionally, ChemPUR offers special nanopowder variants, such as zirconium oxide with yttrium oxide additive for demanding material and ceramic applications.
High-purity zirconium oxide is frequently used in materials science, high-performance ceramics, sensor technology, optics, as well as in research and development projects.
