What purities is strontium available in?

We offer strontium in multiple purity grades to meet different requirements in research and development. Metallic strontium is available at 99% purity as well as in a high-purity 99.8% grade, with the barium content controlled to below 1% in each case, or within even tighter limits. In addition, our range includes numerous strontium compounds in purities of 96%, 99%, 99.9%, up to 99.994% and 99.99%, depending on the compound class.

For applications where barium contamination is particularly critical—such as materials research or electronics—specially characterized grades with defined barium limit values are available. In practice, this means you can select the purity grade that best fits your application. We will be pleased to advise you on choosing the optimal grade for your specific field of use.

What forms of strontium does ChemPUR offer?

We supply strontium as a pure metal in pieces in two size fractions: pieces under 20 mm and pieces under 8 mm. Both variants are delivered under protective gas (argon) and immersed in oil to reliably control the metal’s high reactivity toward atmospheric oxygen and moisture. In addition, our range includes strontium compounds in powder form, including carbonates, fluorides, bromides, aluminates, and chlorides.

Strontium titanate nanopowders are also available as a particularly versatile form; with an average particle size of approx. 100 nm and a specific surface area of more than 10 m²/g, they are suitable for demanding applications in nanotechnology and thin-film technology. Depending on requirements, various pack sizes are available, from a few grams up to the kilogram range. Contact us if you require a specific form or packaging configuration.

What applications is strontium used for?

Strontium and its compounds are used in a wide range of scientific and industrial fields. The pure metal is used, among other things, in metallurgy and as getter material in vacuum systems. Strontium carbonate is an important raw material in the ceramics and glass industries as well as in the manufacture of ferrite permanent magnets. Strontium titanate nanopowder is used for its dielectric properties in electronics, thin-film research, and the development of capacitors and sensors. Strontium aluminate is

known for its phosphorescent properties and is used in luminous pigments and phosphors. In addition, strontium salts such as chlorides, bromides, and nitrates play a role in analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, and biological and pharmacological research fields. For your application, the appropriate purity grade and form are always key. We will be pleased to help you with targeted product selection.

Which strontium compounds are available?

Our range of strontium compounds is broad and covers many classes of chemical compounds. Available products include, among others, strontium acetate hydrate, strontium aluminate, strontium carbonates in various purity grades, strontium chloride in anhydrous and hexahydrate form, strontium fluoride, and strontium bromide. We also supply strontium titanate as a nanopowder, characterized by a defined particle size and high purity of 99.9%.

In addition, our program includes compound classes such as hydroxides, molybdates, nitrates, nitrides, oxides, sulfates, titanates, tungstates, and zirconates. Depending on requirements, the compounds are available in different purities and pack sizes, covering both smaller research quantities and larger amounts for development. Please contact us if you are looking for a specific strontium compound that is not listed in the overview.

How is strontium delivered and stored safely?

Strontium is an extremely reactive alkaline earth metal that oxidizes immediately upon contact with atmospheric oxygen and moisture. For this reason, we package and store metallic strontium under a protective atmosphere—specifically argon—and additionally embedded in mineral oil. This combination of an inert gas atmosphere and an oil coating effectively protects the metal surface from reaction and ensures that the product reaches you in defined quality. In practice, this also means that transport meets the special safety requirements for reactive metals.

For further storage in your laboratory, we recommend keeping it under protective gas or in mineral oil, separated from moisture, oxidizing agents, and water. Strontium compounds in powder form are supplied in suitable, tightly sealed containers. If you have questions about storage, handling, or transport, we will be pleased to advise you and can provide additional safety information on request.

Why is ChemPur the right point of contact for strontium?

As a specialized supplier of fine chemicals and research supplies, we have many years of experience handling reactive metals and demanding high-purity substances. Our strontium range includes both the pure metal in controlled grades and a wide selection of compounds for a broad variety of application fields. We place particular emphasis on clearly documented analytical values, especially with regard to critical impurities such as barium, which is specified and limited in many strontium grades.

In addition, we offer flexible pack sizes that meet the needs of both small research groups and larger development departments. Our products are stored and shipped in accordance with current quality standards, with reactive materials such as strontium metal being packaged particularly carefully under a protective atmosphere and oil. We understand the requirements of laboratory managers and technical buyers and are at your side as a reliable partner. Contact us for an individual quotation.

Does ChemPUR also support product selection?

Selecting the right strontium grade or compound depends on a number of factors: the required purity, the barium content, the chemical form, the particle size for nanomaterials, and the specific requirements of your application. We support you in identifying the right product from our range—whether metallic strontium in a specific piece size, a high-purity carbonate with a defined barium limit value, or a nanopowder with a specific surface area.

Also relevant for your application is the question of the right pack quantity, as we offer many products in multiple container sizes. We can also provide information on analyses, specifications, and handling recommendations as needed. In practice, this means that with ChemPUR you receive not only a product, but also expert advice. Get in touch with us—we will be pleased to help.
