In which purities is scandium available?

At ChemPUR, you can obtain calcium in purities that meet the requirements of demanding research and industrial applications. Calcium is one of the base alkaline earth metals and tends to react with oxygen and moisture, which is why the purity of the starting material is crucial for reproducible results. High-purity and ultra-high-purity grades are packaged and stored under appropriate conditions to minimize contamination through oxidation or hydrolysis.

For which applications is calcium used?

Calcium phosphates are particularly interesting for phosphate-containing material systems. For thin-film technology applications, ChemPUR also offers calcium fluoride as pieces or high-purity single-crystal pieces for evaporation processes. Which calcium compounds are available?

In addition to metallic calcium, ChemPUR offers a wide selection of calcium compounds for chemical, material science, and technical applications. For classic wet-chemical processes and syntheses, calcium acetate, calcium chloride, calcium nitrate, calcium oxalate, and calcium sulfate are available, among others. These compounds are particularly suitable when calcium is required in a well-defined, reactive, or processable form.

For applications with oxidic, ceramic, or mineral materials, the range includes calcium carbonate, calcium hydroxide, and calcium oxide in various purities. Particularly high-purity calcium oxide grades are available up to 99.99% and are reported with specific details on accompanying elements such as strontium and magnesium. In addition, calcium aluminate, calcium titanate, and calcium tungstate are available for material science issues.

What distinguishes calcium from other elements?

Whether for synthesis, analytics, or material development—calcium occupies a special position among the alkaline earth metals, resulting from its combination of high chemical reactivity and broad application relevance. With atomic number 20, calcium belongs to the second main group and the fourth period of the periodic table. It is the fifth most abundant element in the Earth’s crust and, at the same time, a very base metal that oxidizes rapidly in air and reacts with water to evolve hydrogen.

This reactivity makes calcium an effective reducing agent in metallurgical processes on the one hand, but requires special care in storage and handling on the other.
