Our FAQs provide you with a quick overview of important topics related to our product range. If you have any further questions, we will of course also be happy to assist you personally.
Does ChemPUR support you in selecting the right arsenic product?
Selecting the right arsenic product depends on a range of application-specific factors, including the required purity level, the preferred form of supply and the planned quantity. We will be pleased to help you identify the optimal product variant for your process—whether fine powder below 250 microns for synthesis tasks, pieces in the 2–12 mm fraction for melting or evaporation processes, or an MBE-grade ingot for epitaxial applications.
Also relevant for your application is whether a standard purity of 5N or 6N is sufficient or whether ultra-high-purity 7N or 7N5 quality is required. In addition, we can obtain volume quotations or prices on request (POR) for selected products if needed. Contact our specialist team—we will advise you competently and with a clear focus on your requirements.
In which purities is arsenic available?
We offer arsenic across a broad purity spectrum, ranging from 99% for technical applications up to 99.999995% (MBE Grade 7N5) for the most demanding requirements. Standard availability includes purity levels of 99.999% (5N) and 99.9999% (6N), which are particularly suitable for demanding research and development work. In addition, arsenic in the purity level 99.99999% (7N) is available on request.
MBE-grade quality at 99.999995% is intended for applications in molecular beam epitaxy, where absolute purity plays a decisive role. In practice, this means we can provide the right quality for almost any requirement. We will be pleased to advise you on selecting the appropriate purity level for your specific application—simply contact us.
Which arsenic forms does ChemPUR offer?
ChemPUR offers arsenic in several physical forms to optimally meet different process and handling requirements. As a powder with a particle size below 250 microns, the material is particularly well suited for synthesis processes and the production of compound semiconductors. We also offer arsenic as a powder in the coarser -20 mesh fraction, which is suitable for certain evaporation and melting processes.
For applications where a defined piece size is advantageous, arsenic pieces in the 2–12 mm fraction are available. In addition, arsenic is available as an ingot in MBE-grade quality, specifically designed for epitaxial deposition processes. Depending on your application requirements, we will be pleased to support you in selecting the appropriate form of supply—contact us.
What applications is arsenic used for?
As an element of the nitrogen group (Group 15, Period 4), arsenic plays an important role in numerous technologically significant fields. In semiconductor technology, it is used primarily as a dopant in silicon technology and as a component of III-V semiconductor compounds such as gallium arsenide (GaAs), which are used in high-frequency and optoelectronic applications. In addition, arsenic is an essential starting material for epitaxy and the deposition of thin films, particularly in molecular beam epitaxy (MBE).
Also relevant for your application is the fact that arsenic burns in air to form arsenic trioxide (As₂O₃), which is why purity control and proper handling are of central importance. We will be pleased to explain which of our product variants is best suited to your specific process—contact us for expert advice.
How is arsenic delivered and stored safely?
Arsenic is a toxic solid and, as a hazardous substance, is subject to strict transport and storage requirements. We ensure that all shipments are packaged and dispatched in accordance with the applicable dangerous goods regulations, so that safe delivery to your laboratory or facility is ensured.
In addition, it should be noted that arsenic oxidizes in air to arsenic trioxide (As₂O₃), which is why storage under a protective atmosphere or in tightly sealed containers is recommended. In practice, this means that proper handling and appropriate protective measures when working with the material are essential. Safety data sheets are available on request or supplied with the delivery. We will be pleased to inform you about all relevant safety aspects and support you in complying with the applicable regulations—please contact us.

Which arsenic compounds are available?
Our current arsenic range includes elemental arsenic in various purities and forms of supply. Arsenic compounds such as arsenic trioxide (As₂O₃), arsenates or organic arsenic compounds are listed separately in our product portfolio and are available on request. Depending on the purpose for which you require arsenic, it is important to note that elemental arsenic is the starting material for a wide range of chemical syntheses and semiconductor processes, meaning the quality of the raw material has a direct impact on the quality of the compounds produced.
For this reason, we place particular emphasis on offering elemental arsenic in documented and traceable purity levels. In addition, we are available at any time for individual enquiries regarding related arsenic compounds. Please contact us if you require specific compounds or intermediates—we will be pleased to check availability for you.
