What Forms Does ChemPUR Offer?

Selenium is available in our product range in several physical forms to meet various handling and process requirements. As powder, we offer different grain sizes, including -325 mesh, -200 mesh, and -160 mesh, with finer fractions typically having a larger reactive surface. Furthermore, selenium is available as granules in the 1–5 mm fraction, which is particularly suitable for dosage-intensive processes or furnace feeding.

We also offer selenium as an evaporation material, used for vapor deposition processes in thin-film technology. Finally, our portfolio also includes various selenium compounds such as selenium dioxide, selenium sulfide, and selenous acid. Depending on your requirements for grain size, form, or chemical composition, you will find the right product with us. Please feel free to contact us if you need assistance with selection.

Why is ChemPUR the Right Partner for Selenium?

As a specialized supplier of fine chemicals and research materials, we have many years of experience in the procurement and quality assurance of elements such as selenium in a wide range of purities and physical forms. Our product range covers a broad spectrum – from powders of various grain sizes and granules to selenium compounds such as selenium dioxide, selenium sulfide, and selenous acid. In addition, we place particular emphasis on reliable product information, transparent specifications, and careful quality control.

Depending on the requirements of your research or development department, we can also coordinate larger quantities or specific purity levels. In practice, this means that with us, you receive not only a product but also a competent partner for your procurement. We are happy to answer questions about availability, certificates, or special quantities – simply contact our specialist team.

For Which Applications is Selenium Used?

Selenium is a versatile semi-metal used in numerous technical and scientific fields. Its role in semiconductor and thin-film technology is particularly well-known, where it is used as a component of compound semiconductors such as CIGS solar cells. Furthermore, selenium plays a role in glass technology, for example, for decolorization or to achieve specific optical properties.

In materials research, it is used for the synthesis of selenides and other functional compounds. In addition, selenous acid finds application in analytical processes as well as a reagent in organic chemistry. Relevant for your application is the special electrical behavior of gray, metallic selenium, which exhibits photoelectric conductivity and is therefore interesting for sensory applications. We are happy to advise you to identify the optimal selenium product for your application.

How is Selenium Safely Delivered and Stored?

Selenium and its compounds are classified as hazardous substances and are subject to corresponding regulations for transport, storage, and handling. We ensure that all products are packaged and shipped in accordance with applicable dangerous goods regulations, so you receive the goods in perfect condition. For storage, a cool, dry, and well-ventilated room, separated from food, oxidizing agents, and ignition sources, is recommended.

In addition, due to its toxicity, selenium should always be handled with due regard for the respective safety data sheets, which we provide for all our products. In practice, this means that suitable protective equipment – especially gloves and respiratory protection – is essential when handling. Also relevant for your application is the correct disposal of selenium-containing waste in accordance with local regulations. We are happy to advise you on safe handling.

In Which Purities is Selenium Available?

At ChemPUR, we offer selenium in a broad spectrum of purities, specifically tailored to the requirements of scientific and industrial applications. Our range starts with technically high-quality grades from 99.6% and extends to high-purity levels of 99.999%, which are suitable for particularly demanding processes.

In addition, selenium compounds such as selenium dioxide are available in purities of 99.8%, 99.9%, and 99.999%. Particularly relevant for your application is the question of whether impurities could affect process stability or measurement results – the higher the required purity, the more precisely the suitable product can be selected. In practice, this means that we have the right product for laboratory syntheses as well as for research projects with the tightest tolerance requirements. We would be happy to advise you on selecting the appropriate purity level for your specific application.

Which Selenium Compounds Are Available?

In addition to elemental selenium, we offer a selection of relevant selenium compounds frequently required in research and development. Selenium dioxide (SeO2) is available in three purity levels – 99.8%, 99.9%, and 99.999% – and sublimes at 340–350 °C, making it particularly interesting for thermal processes. It is one of the most commonly used selenium compounds in synthetic chemistry and materials research.

We also offer selenium sulfide (SeS2) with a purity of 94+% which is used, among other things, in research on chalcogenide compounds. In addition, selenous acid (H2SeO3) with a molecular weight of 128.97 g/mol is available, which is used as a reagent in analytical and preparative applications. Furthermore, another product is included in the range, for which we will gladly provide you with detailed information upon request. Contact us for individual advice on our selenium compounds.

Does ChemPUR Also Support Product Selection?

The selection of the correct selenium product depends on various factors, including the desired purity level, the physical form, and the intended use. We support you in classifying these parameters meaningfully and identifying the most suitable product for your application. For example, a different product form is required for vapor deposition processes in thin-film technology than for wet chemical syntheses or analytical applications.

Quantity requirements and budget specifications also play a role, for which we can work with you to find an economically attractive solution. For this purpose, we provide safety data sheets and technical specifications upon request, so that you receive all necessary information for your internal approval. Our specialist advisors are happy to be available for a personal consultation – simply contact us via our contact form or by phone.
